Lower Back Pain:Sciatica Icon

Lower Back Pain/Sciatica

  • Range: mild soreness to sharpshooting pain
  • Cause: spinal cord begins pressing down on sciatic nerve
  • Symptoms: immobility, lower body weakness, pain and numbness
Neck Pain icon

Neck Pain

  • Due to stiffness and musculoskeletal strain
  • Cause: abnormal or excessive neck movements, poor posture, or injury
  • Common condition that can be a sign of a more severe underlying health issue
Musculoskeletal Pain icon

Musculoskeletal Pain

  • Discomfort and damage of muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and bones
  • Cause: wide range of underlying conditions
  • Symptoms: a mild to severe sense of fatigue, pain, or weakness
Sports Injuries icon

Sports Injuries

  • Cause: athletic competition actively contracts and strains the musculoskeletal system
  • Injuries may be sudden during a sports event
  • Injuries may be gradual from long-term accumulation of stress and fatigue
Arm:Shoulder Pain icon

Arm/Shoulder Pain

  • Due to overuse, disuse, or abnormal body movement
  • Shoulder pain is often caused by inflammation, arthritis, or connectivity issues around the joint
  • Arm pain can be a general soreness due to misuse, or a symptom of an underlying condition
Vertigo:Dizziness:Balance Disorders icon

Vertigo/Dizziness/Balance Disorders

  • Typically lasts a few seconds, triggered by specific head movements that affect the brain or vestibular system
  • Can be sudden, causing nausea or falls when severe
  • Symptoms: spinning sensation that causes dizziness and imbalance

Post-concussion Syndrome

  • Concussion symptoms that persist significantly longer than usual
  • Often lasting weeks, months, or even years
  • May cause headaches, memory issues, fatigue, and dizziness

Whiplash Injuries

  • A form of neck pain caused by a sudden jerk or movement
  • Most common cause: car collisions and sports injuries
  • Can cause widespread musculoskeletal pain, vertigo, and immobility

Motor Vehicle Accident Injuries

  • Can cause a wide-range of potential injuries
  • Most common injuries: whiplash, concussion, and musculoskeletal pain
  • Cause: wide range of underlying conditions
  • Depending on a patient’s case, it can take days to weeks or months and years to recover

Headaches

  • Range: mild to severe sense of pressure on top of the skull
  • Causes: stress, poor posture, lack of food or hydration, and poor sleep habits
  • Can be a chronic condition, & a sign of a more severe underlying symptom

Migraines

  • Intense form of headache that can last from hours to days
  • Often accompanied by an increased sensitivity to light and sound
  • Symptoms include nausea and dizziness

Bulging / Herniated Discs

  • Develops within the spinal cord
  • Cause: strain, injury, and natural wear and tear
  • Symptoms: pain, discomfort, and immobility throughout the back and/or extremities

Radiating Numbness/Tingling

  • Pain and discomfort that travels throughout the body, spreading across the nervous system
  • Causes: herniated discs and other forms of nerve damage
  • Symptoms: numbing and tingling sensation

Hip/Knee/Foot Pain

  • Inflammation and deteriorating cartilage are typically what causes joint immobility
  • Causes: poor walking habits and general wear and tear
  • Can negatively affect the musculoskeletal system

Failed Back Surgery

  • Fairly common
  • Abnormalities along the spinal cord and nervous system can often redirect pain to extremities
  • Underlying health issues can be difficult to diagnose

Chronic Pain

  • A permanent discomfort and bodily abnormality
  • Traditionally diagnosed after weeks, or months of continuous symptoms
  • Commonly affects the musculoskeletal system

Spinal Stenosis

  • Occurs when the narrow openings within the backbone become smaller and restricted
  • Causes widespread damage to the nervous system and musculoskeletal system
  • Symptoms: pain, discomfort, numbness and tingling
Functional Medicine, Nutrition, and Supplementation icon

Metabolic Issues

  • Causes an inability to correct irregularities
  • May affect: weight, digestion, blood pressure, blood sugar, and a body’s ability to process various chemicals

Leaky Gut

  • Ineffective intestinal lining can allow food and liquid to slip through and infect underlying tissue
  • Causes issues such as fatigue, diarrhea, nutritional deficiencies
  • May cause musculoskeletal problems

Food Allergies

  • Reactions can be benign or aggressive
  • Most severe conditions can be life-threatening
  • Symptoms: watery eyes, runny nose, itching, swelling, and loss of breath

Arthritis

  • Inflammation and deterioration of joints
  • Causes immobility and pain
  • Typically occurs during old age as a result of natural wear and tear

Peripheral Neuropathy/Diabetic Neuropathy

  • The deterioration of nerves connecting to the extremities
  • Typically occurs in hands and feet
  • Causes the affected areas to go numb and have a “pins and needles” sensation

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

  • Nerves, veins, and muscles between the collarbone and uppermost rib are compressed
  • Causes: occupations or sports that require extensive use of the upper body
  • Symptoms: upper body pain, numbness, and immobility

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Nerves within the wrist are restricted and compressed
  • Causes: wrist injuries and excessive use
  • Pressure can build suddenly or gradually over time

Early Alzheimer’s Symptoms

  • Symptoms: memory loss, confusion, delusion, poor judgement, and a general decrease of cognitive ability, irritability, depression, common mood swings

Fibromyalgia

  • Affects the entire musculoskeletal system
  • Causes weakness, fatigue, sleep issues, mood swings, and severe pain in the most extreme cases
  • Much about this condition remains unknown

RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome)

  • Constant ache or urge to move one’s legs
  • Can be uncomfortable and cause sleep issues in most cases

Insomnia/Sleep Abnormalities

  • The inability to sleep, usually for days or weeks
  • Can cause mental deterioration, fatigue, delusion, irritability, and depression

Parkinson's Disease

  • Damaged nerves within the brain causes body compulsions and uncontrollable shaking
  • Symptoms: loss of mobility and balance
  • Can have long-term effects on one’s motor functions

Wellness Care

  • Correcting one’s lifestyle and habits to prevent long-term health issues
  • Seeks to proactively eliminate problems before they arise, opposed to only fixing them when they do occur
