Somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) are the electrical currents that the nervous system sends to the brain from sensory stimuli. This is typically induced electrically through one of the extremities, recording the speed of the currents that are traveling within the somasematic system. Measuring this simulation is useful to diagnose problems throughout the nervous system, as well as to evaluate the effects of certain clinical trials.
SSEP stimulation is recommended for patients experiencing muscle weakness, nerve pain, or loss of peripheral sensory.
